Meryl Streep?s Capitol photo shoot in Vogue

Finally we can see the outcome of all the mysterious VIP buzzing around Meryl Streep during her stealth visit to the Capitol in October: A photo spread in the January Vogue. The perennially acclaimed actress (at far right, in a Carolina Herrera coatdress) used the occasion of her cover story to command more attention for the campaign to open a National Women?s History Museum on the Mall by posing with some other prominent supporters. From left: Museum President and CEO Joan Wages, Madeleine Albright, Sen. Susan Collins, Sen. Barbara Mikulski, Barbara Bush, Rep. Carolyn Maloney, Patricia Nixon Cox, Maya Angelou and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton. Photographer Annie Leibovitz loosened up the group by getting them to brainstorm the museum?s bill-passing strategy ? and made the scene more autumnal by scattering dead leaves just so.
