We speak, of course, of the Reliable Source 2012 Gossip Tournament. Clooney blew past a weak Final Four challenge from Rick Santorum?s sweater vest to enter the finals against Mimi Alford. The long-ago JFK intern/mistress/memoirist had easily trounced the new VIP alibi of choice, ?hospitalized for exhaustion? (dirty details always trump euphemism). But while she hit the best seller list, we?re not seeing a sequel. Clooney, by pulling off a made-for-the-cameras arrest at the Sudanese embassy two days after sitting next to Michelle Obama at the state dinner, showed he knows how to stay in this game. Let?s see if he can do it again in 2013.
