Walking it back: Dick Cheney, who is stepping away from his recent not-so-nice comments on Sarah Palin?s role in the 2008 presidential campaign. Speaking to ?Good Morning America,? last week the former veep said that the decision to have her join the Republican ticket was, ?a mistake.? These comments were widely regarded as critical of the former Alaska governor. But during an interview with Fox News? Sean Hannity that aired Monday and was also reported on in the National Review, Cheney tried to clear things up a little. He?s not against the woman, you see, he just didn?t like the process by which she was picked. ?I was asked if I thought the McCain process in ?08 had been well done or was it a mistake and I said I thought it was a mistake,? Cheney told Hannity. ?That?s not ? meant so much as a criticism of Gov. Palin as it is that I just thought it was not ? the process didn?t meet the standards I would like to see our candidate pursue when they pick a ? a running mate.? But on a personal level, he?s totally cool with her, okay?
