In writing that when he was U.S. attorney, New Jersey?s Chris Christie (R) ?paid 34 percent of his health-care premiums while state and local employees were paying 1.5 percent of their salaries,? George F. Will exaggerated the difference by comparing a percentage of a health-care premium to a percentage of a salary [op-ed, Aug. 21].
� � �The salary would be much larger than the premium, so the comparison is distorted. Will should have compared the percentages of health-care premiums paid by Christie and a state employee. The teacher Will mentioned would pay $900 of a $19,000 premium, or 4.7 percent. That would have made for a fairer argument.
