The Nov. 2 news article ?Suspect chemicals common in crib mattresses, group says? raises a number of important questionsregarding commentators and politicians who suggest that cumbersome environmental regulations are the source of the nation?s economic ills.
First, why are conservatives so afraid of the Environmental Protection Agency? To date, the agency has banned a minuscule number of registered chemicals; does this really constitute an insurmountable regulatory burden? If so, what does this say about the flexibility and ingenuity of our manufacturing industry?
