Saving money is one of the most popular ? and repeated ? New Year?s resolutions, right up there with losing weight. Both of these self-improvement missions take discipline, happen slowly and can be hard to stick with. Still, the new year seems like a great time to try again.
The trick to success is to make smaller promises to yourself. That?s especially true when it comes to saving money. Janet Bodnar, editor of Kiplinger?s Personal Finance magazine, suggests saving in two ways: ?There are the actual moves you can make, then there are the psychological tricks you can play on yourself to get your spending in control,? she said.
